Status videos are the hardest to keep: a screenshot only captures one frame and screen recording loses quality and adds your UI. Save a status video
- Play the full video in WhatsApp — Open the status and let the video play to the end so WhatsApp finishes caching the file. Partly buffered videos may not appear yet.
- Open the saver and scan — Open Statusly, make sure the WhatsApp folder is connected, then scan. Switch to the Videos tab to find video statuses faster.
- Preview and save — Tap the video to preview, then tap Save. The original MP4 is copied to your gallery under Movies/Statusly.
- Verify playback in Gallery — Open your Photos or Files app and play the saved clip. If it matches the original resolution, you copied the cached file — not a screen recording.
Why a video status sometimes does not appear
The file only exists locally after WhatsApp has cached it. If a video status is missing, return to WhatsApp, play it fully, then scan again. This is normal behavior for all status saver apps.
Screen recording vs saving the original
Screen recording re-encodes the video, lowers quality, and can capture notifications. Saving the cached file keeps the original resolution and bitrate, which matters most for reposting.
Long or HD status videos
